GAP Assessment

GAP Assessment

Approach & Methodology

A. Discovery & Current State Assessment

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and technical workshops.
  • Perform system inventory and dependency mapping.
  • Review documentation: architecture diagrams, process flows, SLAs, etc.
  • Assess legacy systems, proprietary solutions, and technical debt.

B. Define Target Architecture & Requirements

  • Define the target state architecture aligned with digital goals (e.g., microservices, cloud-native, API-first).
  • Consider business needs, regulatory compliance, scalability, and resilience.
  • Identify required capabilities: real-time processing, open banking APIs, analytics platforms, etc.

C. Gap Identification & Analysis

  • Compare current state vs. target state for each domain.
  • Highlight capability shortfalls, technology mismatches, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Categorize gaps: critical, moderate, or future enhancements.

D. Impact Assessment & Prioritization

  • Evaluate the impact of each gap on business processes, customer experience, security, and compliance.
  • Prioritize gaps based on risk, value, and effort using a structured scoring model.

E. Recommendations & Roadmap Development

  • Recommend remediation strategies: system upgrades, replacements, integrations, re-architecting.
  • Develop a phased roadmap with quick wins, mid-term, and long-term actions.
  • Align roadmap with strategic initiatives and budgetary considerations.

Governance & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish a steering committee with business and IT leaders.
  • Ensure continuous engagement with key stakeholders for validation.
  • Provide regular updates and feedback loops during the assessment process.

Key Success Factors

  • Clear understanding of digital transformation vision and business strategy.
  • Collaboration between business, IT, and external partners.
  • Focus on scalability, interoperability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Prioritization of high-impact, high-feasibility initiatives.
